What is the Sri Lanka Digital Nomad Visa?

It is a one-year visa category for eligible foreign remote workers, freelancers and owners of overseas businesses who want to live in Sri Lanka while earning income from outside the country.

What is the minimum income requirement?

The official requirement is a minimum monthly remittance of USD 2,000 for the main applicant. Where the dependant count exceeds two, an additional USD 500 must be remitted monthly for each dependant beyond the first two.

Can I work for a Sri Lankan company under this visa?

No. Local employment in Sri Lanka is not permitted under the Digital Nomad Visa. The applicant's work income must come from foreign sources.

Can I include my spouse and children?

How long is the visa valid?

The visa is issued for one year and may be renewed annually while the applicant continues to meet the requirements. For extension, proof of tax registration through the Inland Revenue Department is required together with the relevant documents.
